Special Education Needs
The Special Educational Needs Officer (SENO) supports students with mild special educational needs such as Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as well as others with learning and behavioural needs in the following ways:
- Individual / small group intervention support (e.g. in literacy skills)
- Small group skills training (e.g. social skills, study and organizational skills)
- In-class support
- Case management and other administrative duties
- Resource management
The scope of work includes:
- Collaborating and communicating with parents
- Working closely with teachers (including teachers trained in Special Needs (TSNs))
- Working closely with other school personnel such as the School Counsellors and Lead Teacher, Learning Needs (SEN), to provide holistic support to students with mild to moderate needs
- Consulting and working closely with external partners such as REACH
