Robotics
DSA – Robotics (Programming)
Robotics is not just a CCA in Pei Hwa Secondary School. It is a platform for us to provide holistic development for all Pei Hwa Students. We have a structured Robotics Experiential Education Programme for all staff and students, such as Teachers’ Training Programme, M5Go training for Secondary 1 and 2 students to equip them with Maker and Programming skills.
With innovation as one of the school’s new strategic thrusts, we have explored new ideas to align our programmes to promote innovation in our students. We have embarked in the Code for Fun Programme rolled out by Infocomm Media Development Authority. The Programme aims to grow the maker culture through the introduction of simple-to-use and open-ended technologies that the baseline users will be comfortable using.
Our Secondary 1 students are exposed to M5Go, an entry-level programmable microcontroller, which will be loaned to our students to inspire them to explore the possibilities of digital making. After the training, they would be actively looking at how they can use M5Go microcontrollers to make improvement to their lives in the school community.
Our Secondary 2 students would deepen their learning of M5Go microcontroller with the introduction of new sensors, which would allow them wider options and to come with more complex solutions. After the training, they would be working on their projects to benefit selected Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) and external stakeholders in the community.
Beyond the two years of level-wide programmes, students are given many opportunities to solve real world problems through coding and making. We believe coding literacy would be one of the most important skills that we need to equip our students to prepare them for the future world.
