Sec 1 ALP: Micro:bits Coding Programme
On 4 to 7 July 2017, all Secondary 1 classes went through the Micro:bits Coding Programme. This programme was heavily subsidised by IMDA as they sponsored every Secondary 1 student with a Micro:bit micro-controller.
The students went through the training and came up with really innovative products using the Design Thinking approach. They were required to come up with assistive devices and games to engage patients in hospice centres.
On the last day of their training, each group presented their research, the theory behind the mechanics as well as how their games and devices were created to the rest of the class. The students really enjoyed the programme and is our first attempt to combine school programmes to develop innovative and compassionate citizens of tomorrow.
