Direct School Admission
What is Direct School Admission?
DSA-Sec is an initiative by MOE which was introduced in 2004 to give schools greater flexibility in student admission, so as to recognise more diverse range of student achievements and talents. Under the DSA-Sec Exercise, participating schools may select some students for admission via their own admission criteria.

|Pei Hwa Secondary School (PHSS) is committed to develop our students as ‘A Leader, A Scholar, An Altruist’. As part of the effort to achieve these desirable outcomes of education, the School launched its Applied Learning Programme (ALP): Robotics and Programming since 2014.
Hence in line with its goal of nurturing talents, we are looking for committed students who demonstrate forte and aptitude in Robotics and Programming.
With the nation’s effort to improve digital literacy and encourage innovation, there is a shift in our ALP focus towards Digital Makers’ Programme where students are encouraged to tinker and create products to solve real world problems through STEM education.

|Pei Hwa Secondary School is looking for Primary 6 students with a passion and talent in playing the Guzheng. Students should meet the admission criteria stated in the following section before applying. Shortlisted applicants who meet the admission criteria will be required to attend an interview and audition by a panel made up of teachers and instructor.
Parents and students are encouraged to choose wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the school’s academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
1. How many places can Pei Hwa Secondary offer in DSA Exercise?
Under the School Distinctive Programme initiative, our school may offer up to a maximum of 20% of the total Secondary 1 intake for the year.
2. Can my child take part in the DSA exercise if he/she is currently not studying in any of the MOE schools?
Your child will need to obtain a registration number from MOE Customer Service Centre before he/she can take part in this exercise. For international students, more information can be found here.
3. Will my child be part of the Robotics or Guzheng CCA if he is successful in the DSA application?
Your child will be automatically channelled into Robotics Club or Guzheng Ensemble as his/her CCA through the DSA Exercise. Hence, your child will not be involved in the CCA Selection Process during the CCA orientation week.
4. Can my child/ward apply for transfer after getting a confirmed place?
Similar to previous years, students who have been admitted to a school through the DSA-Sec Exercise will not be able to participate in the Secondary One Posting Exercise.
Students who have been successfully allocated to a school via the DSA-Sec Exercise are expected to honour their commitment to their posted DSA-Sec schools and will thus not be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
