“To develop future-ready youths who are critical thinkers and self-directed learners, through an engaging and empowering Humanities curriculum”
Through Geography, History and Social Studies, we endeavour to inculcate in students a concern for the environment, an appreciation for the past and an understanding of the present by preparing them to be active citizens of the future with sound values.
Curriculum
Our team aims to empower and develop students who possess empathy and critical thinking skills, and are self-directed in their learning. These skills would be inculcated to them through our lessons that adopt inquiry-based and experiential learning, discussion-based and assessment literacy strategies. Our approach allows for the opportunity to inculcate within our students the 21st Century Competencies (21CC) of becoming informed, concerned and participative citizens.
As part of learning beyond the classroom, our department also embarks on Geographical, Historical and Issues Investigations to provide a platform for students to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and values needed in the real world. Through their investigations, students learn to question unexamined assumptions and develop the ability of perspective-taking to arrive at informed conclusions.
Enrichment
Across our subjects, we have various enrichment programmes that have allowed students to explore their passion for the Humanities through inquiry-based and experiential learning.
