Wushu
Wushu is a Chinese martial art that has been practised for centuries. It is known for its impressive acrobatic moves, agile footwork, and a high degree of athleticism.
One of the unique aspects of Wushu is its emphasis on performance and presentation. In competitions, athletes perform choreographed routines that showcase their skills in a dynamic and entertaining way. These routines are judged by factors such as technical ability, creativity, and presentation, and can include a wide range of techniques such as kicks, punches, throws, and weapon strikes.
Pei Hwa Wushu focuses on developing students’ confidence in body expressions through an emphasis on the strengthening of body and mind. Overall, Wushu is a fascinating and dynamic martial art that combines athleticism, performance, and self-defence techniques. Whether you are looking to improve your fitness, learn self-defence skills, or simply experience the thrill of performing in front of an audience, Pei Hwa Wushu is a great choice.
The CCA will enable our students to:
- develop confidence in body expressions and movements
- develop healthy lifestyles and habits
- learn and apply Wushu and the school values
- develop a sense of community and teamwork through the focus on team events

"Stepping into the realm of our captivating CCA is the moment I've eagerly anticipated since forever. Wushu has been my lifelong companion, ever since my journey began in Primary One. Today, as I proudly assume the role of Captain for Team Pei Hwa Wushu, the thrill knows no bounds. My ultimate desire is to sow the seeds of love for Wushu in the hearts of my juniors, ensuring that our vibrant culture continues to thrive for years to come. Witnessing the growth of my juniors is an indescribable source of fulfillment. It all reaffirms my purpose and leaves an everlasting mark on my soul. Pei Hwa Wushu is like a second home to me. Whenever I feel like giving up after tough training or when I didn’t do well in competitions, my teammates, teachers and coaches will always comfort me, making me feel better. Their comforting words and unwavering belief in my potential ignite a flame within, dispelling any doubts and empowering me to rise once more. This CCA has not only transformed me into a skilled warrior, but it has molded me into a compassionate and effective leader, equipped to face any challenge that comes my way" Captain 2023, Winona Cai Xuanyu (3I2)
"Being the vice-president of wushu, I am delighted that I am able to work with the other wushu exco members to make wushu a more fun and enjoyable cca for everyone! Being in wushu has brought me immense happiness and fufillment. When I first joined wushu in the year 2021, I was anxious and afraid. I had no idea what my future in wushu would be like. I thought wushu was just a CCA where one just does stunts, kicks, and flips. But I have come to realise that wushu is more than that, wushu is a place for us to bond, wushu is a place for us to develop friendship, wushu is a place for us to develop teamwork! Over the years, I have gained a lot of interest and passion towards Wushu! I always have something to look forward to on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wushu has played a significant role in my secondary school life, it allowed me to obtain invaluable experiences with my CCA mates! I am more than thankful that I took up Wushu as a CCA in Pei Hwa Secondary School!" Vice-President 2023, Goh Cheng Yang (3I3)
"As the vice captain of the exhilarating world of wushu, I am absolutely thrilled to don the leadership mantle and spearhead our CCA, embarking on an unforgettable journey alongside my dedicated exco team. Picture this: a few months ago, a daunting knee injury struck me during one of our grueling training sessions. Yet, defying the odds, I emerged as a true warrior, fueled by unwavering resilience and uplifted by the unwavering support of my teammates and the unwavering cheers from my awe-inspiring coaches. Together, we forged ahead, pushing the boundaries and surpassing our own limitations with each passing day. Being a part of the Pei Hwa wushu has gifted me with countless opportunities to showcase my skills in thrilling competitions and performances. But it doesn't stop there. Through the years, I learnt the unyielding virtue of perseverance that transcends both the realms of mind and body. It's a discipline that has molded me into a tenacious force, enabling me to conquer every obstacle that comes my way, and emerge stronger, more resilient than ever before. " Vice-Captain 2023, Gwenda Teo Yu Xuan (3I8)
