Pei Hwa Choir

The Pei Hwa Voices (Choir) is committed to nurture confident singers to have a deep appreciation of choral music in different cultures and throughout different time periods. We seek to inculcate the values of discipline, resilience and empathy for others through songs by singing as a choir.

Many of our singers join us with little to no singing and music experience. Our singers develop their confidence and skills through instructions in music theory, vocal techniques, and various public performances which stretch our potential in the choral scene. Our singers are exposed to a rich variety of experiences such as public performances, choral exchanges, and arts appreciation learning journeys. We continue to broaden our perspectives and develop empathy for others through our repertoire which spans different cultures, time-periods and genres.

The Pei Hwa Voices strives to live up to our motto: “We Sing as One!”. We are proud to share the joy of making music as one Choir united by our passion for singing.

Achievements

CCA Activities

• Training in basic music theory and vocal technique.
  All singers learn about how to read basic musical notations, and how to maintain good vocal health. Singers with a greater interest in developing their musical talent may also have opportunities to learn basic conducting.
• Learning songs from different cultures, genres, and time-periods.
  We sing a diverse array of songs from different cultures, languages, time-periods and genres. This gives each singer an appreciation of different cultures, languages and the rich history of choral singing.
• Choral exchanges with choirs from other schools
  The Pei Hwa Voices frequently collaborates with choirs from other schools through choral exchanges where we share our learning and repertoire with fellow choristers from all over Singapore. We build a community of passionate singers through combined performances.
• Public performances and participation in choral festivals
  The Pei Hwa Voices has many opportunities to perform for school events, SYF Arts Presentations, choral festivals, and PHiesta, our biennial combined performing arts concert.
• Participation in school camps
  Our singers are exposed to different art forms through our collaboration with other Performing Arts CCAs during our annual Combined Performing Arts Camp.
